Teaching & Learning
In today's ever-changing landscape of higher education, it's essential that instructors have access to tools and frameworks that can help them promote deep learning and critical thinking among their students. One such framework is Bloom's Taxonomy, which has been an essential tool for educators since its introduction in 1956. Breaking down learning objectives into clear, measurable levels, provides a roadmap for instructors to create effective teaching and learning activities that are aligned with their students' needs. However, incorporating Bloom's Taxonomy into teaching practices can be challenging, especially in the face of unprecedented challenges and rapid change. In this presentation, we will explore how Qualtrics, a powerful platform, goes beyond the creation of simple surveys and can be used to create a wide range of activities that align with the different levels of Bloom’s taxonomy. For instance, at the lower levels of Bloom's taxonomy, such as Remembering and Understanding, Qualtrics can be used to create quizzes and knowledge assessments that test recall and comprehension. Moving up the taxonomy, at the level of Applying, Qualtrics can be used to create simulations or scenario-based activities that require students to apply their knowledge to solve problems or make decisions. At the higher levels of Bloom's taxonomy, such as Analyzing, Evaluating, and Creating, Qualtrics can be used to create more sophisticated projects that challenge students to think deeply and engage with complex ideas. In all of these cases, Qualtrics provides a flexible and powerful toolset for creating engaging and interactive learning activities that align with the goals of higher education. Attendees will leave this presentation with a solid understanding of how to incorporate Bloom's Taxonomy and Qualtrics into their teaching practices to promote student engagement and success.
