I just got a DA climber & of course the main canes are cut for shipping. Well in this video I learned you're never supposed to cut your main cane. So am I just waiting on the new main canes to grow up from the ground now? I wish you could do a video on the this aspect of having a climber, as in what to expect & do the first few years.

Great to the point video. We are creating a privacy fence (S) in our backyard using a screen type trellis, painted dark ( Black, emerald green, brown) and a color variety (White, reds, orange, pink) of climbing roses. The more mature /bigger sized gallon containers from the nursery the better. This is a great plan for soil that is clay hard pan from your original contractor's construction; even if you spent money on new fill dirt, top soil etc to create flower beds (Raised or not). Roses attract a variety of wild life in your backyard also. And are pretty much no care.

you mention not to deadhead the main cane, when the roses of the main cane are spent do we just leave it?

the very best tie to use is insulated electric inner cable: wont ever break or rust and can be easily coiled! to perfection. just ask neighbours or friends or family for their unused electric appliance cords and cut open and cut in 20cm handy lenghts. thank you.
