Fun fact, that strange resonant thrumming sound before the worm arrives is something some sand dunes actually do, they sing when they're disturbed. So you can hear it when they start moving and cause the sand to cascade.

The worms were so well done in this, I used to think I was desensitized to good special effects but the worms made me smile anyway.

when i originally saw this, i was unaware that sand could flow like water. egypt was the first place i saw this happen, then in kuwait and iraq. one of the craziest things i saw, was on a very calm day, one of my buddies picked up a hand full of sand and dropped it. it made a cloud that hung for about 2 hours very slowly drifting in the wind that so slow nothing moved really. i don't know how long the cloud lasted total, as i had to leave and go on a mission, but i still remember that, and the sand flowing as the vehicles moved through it.

Edited: This worm looks actually way smaller than the one mentioned in the book. In the book, this worm is supposed to be 80 meters in diameter and the length should be 400 meters.
