Cant agree more man! 50mm 1.8 was the first lens that I bought in 2017 and I still use it today! Super affordable! Great Photos!

If you're new to photography, this isn't a good idea. As James Popsys says, the first few months of a hobby matter the most. They decide whether you will continue that hobby or not. So if you get a lens which won't work everywhere then you will end up not taking photos. I would say a kit lens is even better because it's more versatile, yeah, maybe it doesn't have as much bokeh and low light capabilities are worse but you can still at least do landscape, seascapes, street, and some portraits.

Just got this last year. But it’s on my Rebel T6 crop sensor so it’s like a 85mm. Lol

Would a 50mm 1.8 work on a crop sensor? Or should i go for a 22mm

Not really
50mm on full frame probably
But on APS-C its pretty useless
