Why Trophies on PlayStation 4 Will Sustain the Addiction

As if earning Trophies wasn't a sport for some already, PS4's new Trophy functionality promises to make things even more addictive.

It would be cool if they could add a progression bar for each trophy later on. Some trophies require you to do 1 simple thing multiple times (I believe InFamous 2 had a trophy where you had to use 50 of those bars to shoot up a wall), so it would be nice if you could see how many times you have done that.

36 platinums, not bad. most reviewers accounts I see only the play the game on the easiest difficulty settings and just complete the main story. Makes you wonder why they wanted the job.

While I am more of an Achievement guy than Trophies because of the number value attached to them, I do think that listing how common a trophy/achievement is is a very cool feature. It's about the little things and I hope Xbox One will use something similar but I am glad that does exist.

The advertisement isn't what bothers me. Without money, IGN wouldn't exist. With that said, do the sponsors of this really believe that people will check out the album, just because of a swift, redundant plug at the beginning of a PS4 video?

Never liked trophies, gamerscore gave me incentive to go achievement hunting, but I never really got trophies, and so I never went achievement hunting on the ps3.
Another thing I'll miss when I get a PS4.

Absolutely, awesome video. I commented the same thing on an IGN video just the other day when you guys first mentioned this rarity system. Really looking forward to seeing just how rare my Dark Souls platinum truly is. Because out of the 100, 000 people counted as owning Dark Souls on PSNProfiles.com about 20% have the platinum. But, out of the 1 million+ that purchased that game for PS3, I suspect that number to be much lower.
