Footage of my trip to The Gambia. These are videos of me walking around various parts of the country. Included is a video of me walking through the Serrekunda Market, the largest market in the country. Another is of me walking through a small village in a rural area that tourists rarely go to and talking to a few people. The third video is of the nightlife scene in the main tourist zone. It's actually quite the party scene. The final video is of monkeys paling on a trail that I was hiking on in a forest park.

I know the vertical video is not ideal, but I wasn't walking around with a selfie stick in landscape mode. My phone was in my pocket during the market section, with just the camera lens peeping out. Other than the guy I spoke to in the small village, I stopped recording when talking to people. For the nightlife and obviously the monkeys, there's less concern about filming public.

Ond of the few you tube geographers doing videos about the great continent of Africa. Thanks Kyle. I taught high school geography and the students know very little about Africa.

16:33 What a kind gentleman! Very nice of him to invite you to food with his family

This is awesome. I love how the gentleman invited you to his home so effortlessly, and I love that you spoke French to the locals and your comprehension seemed to be excellent for having self-studied. I long to go to West Africa and use my French - I have fun with west African uber drivers in the states and I loved francophone Morocco when I went

I often wonder if "vibrant" has a precise definition -- it's one of those words YouTuber urbanists throw around a lot (the photography/videographers similarly use "cinematic"), and then they use a lot of synonymns to "define" it. That walk through the market is the definition of vibrant, -- 'nuf said.

I like the respect he showed to the locals by not filming them or the kids

You could start doing walking tour videos. You could Pop-Up geography facts during the video!

Skip the intro and just get into the walk. I love those style videos

That was super interesting! I love that the guy invited you to his house. I see hospitality like that in a lot of various travel vlogs and such, like the guys from Yes Theory/Seek Discomfort. (Their Transnistria video was especially cute.)
And you speak fluent French?!
That's killer.

Would make a nice exotic locale for a James Bond movie.

I liked it. Look forward to future videos about your travels. How else would I know how to properly pronounce Caribbean?
