End of the Line No.1 - Amersham

Welcome to Amersham station! In Zone 9 at the end of the Metropolitan line, we kick off here in this new series, ticking off all the stations at the ends of the lines on Tube Map. What's there? What's the station like? What quirky and interesting facts are there, and if you've not been yourself - will this inspire you to go to make a trip yourself!

Also: Fares zones existed since the 1980's, it's just that they didn't first appear on the Tube Map until 2001.

4:50 Geoff's excitement at the Chiltern train was the best thing ever 😄

Hello. I used to travel from Kings Cross to Baker Street then on to Rickmansworth on the Metropolitan Line when visiting family for 28+ years. Love this video. 🙂🙂🙂

End stations always have a certain vibe that I love. They often feel more relaxed, especially if its a somewhat rural/suburban area

This made me get on my shoes. Walk to Feltham, get on a South Western railway train to Waterloo and currently going to Baker Street to then get a train to Amersham because it looks beautiful. Great video Geoff.

The end of the line for the dlr seems a bit silly but also fun to do in a day.

There’s two railway workers that live in a Chesham here. We’re more than happy to show you the sights 😊. Chesham is great - not only is there an exhibition on at the moment called River to Railway but there is the Lido with a train view! It’s a beautiful part of the world. Early morning trains normally have deer sightings 😃

I love your content man, as a london underground lover, these make my day! The collaboration between the met and chiltern trains is top tier!

I used to think london underground didnt get enough internet attention until i looked at the top comment by none other than youtube themself! Nice to see the love the underground gets. And i dont regret becoming fascinated in it.

This may he 2 years old, but these are still awesome to watch!

This series is a great idea! I can't wait to see you do High Barnet. Was my local tube stop when I used to live in London. Very nostalgic!

Used to love going to the end of the line as a kid living in Victoria, London. Went to Amersham in the early days of the A stock. Driver let me into the cab. Went from Amersham to Beconskott for a day out with mum. Went back for the first time since, only two weeks ago, to ride the '38 stock over the "north curve" to Watford and back. Arrived by car this time, I live near Buckingham now. Nostalgia inducing video.

You’ve finally joins the 4k club. I’d say it looks at least 4 times better. You could see every flake of rust on the stairs. Excellent viewing on my 55” Qled. More please.

As someone who lives across the road from the Amersham Station and can see the signal cabin from my upstairs window, I agree, it does look a little out of place. Thanks for the extra info on Amersham's relative westerly location, good trivia knowledge to have up my sleeve. What Geoff didn't say is the station is at the bottom of the shopping street and all the amenities that it offers. Old Amersham is a 30-minute walk away through Rectory Woods (left out of the station, under the bridge and then right across the road to take a footpath to the woods that has a floor plaque stating 'METROPOLITAN & GREAT CENTRAL JOINT COMMITTEE PRIVATE PROPERTY' (see if you can spot it). Come To the end of the line at Amersham, you will not be disappointed.

I used to live in Aylesbury and so used to go through Amersham all the time. Thank you for showing us these gems.

What a series! Thanks Geoff from Italy, you allow me to travel on railways that I don't have.
