Getting Started with Options | Michael Fairbourn | 10-15-24

Within this presentation, we initially looked at the trends and potential support and resistance levels of the S&P 500 Index. We then discussed ways that option traders could consider structuring short put verticals to potentially generate income. Next, we compared a couple of potential example candidates before selecting one to place a sample short put vertical trade on. We also discussed potential gains, risks and some of the option greeks in the thinkorswim paperMoney platform.

You’ve learned that you can buy and sell options for different purposes. In this last of four vertical options strategies episodes, you’ll learn how to combine option selling and buying strategies to create different, risk-defined strategies, that offer a variety of potential risks, rewards, and probabilities of success. Long put vertical spreads are a bearish strategy used to potentially generate income or growth in investment portfolios.

Options carry a high level of risk and are not suitable for all investors. Certain requirements must be met to trade options through Schwab. Please read the Options Disclosure Document titled "Characteristics and Risks of Standardized Options" before considering any option transaction.
