If global appeal is the standard, there are so many other categories that need removing before table tennis. When was the last time you watched the marathon?

Table tennis is the 2nd most popular sport in the world (behind soccer) across 6 continents with over 227 member associations, which represent the number of countries and territories where table tennis is formally organized and played at a competitive level. It's not leaving any time soon.

So, let me get this straight- we can have sports like Surfing, skateboarding, sport climbing, 3x3 basketball, golf, baseball, softball and BREAKDANCING in the Olympics, but not Table tennis, which has more than a billion watchers in the world? Sounds more like the Olympics only want american sports. If the US can't win any medals - what's the point of the sport, am I right?

Edit: Just to elaborate, table tennis is not just popular in China. It's FAAAR more popular in Europe than all of the other mentioned sports above combined.
