As a petite woman, I'm a fan of the pick. It is so much easier to dig with, particularly if you have heavy clay soil.

If your local or state government is that constraining, you need to pack up and come to Carolina, Tennessee, Arkansas, or Texas!

I actually just started building swales on my property, I did one just by eye-ing it and it turned out alright but the A-frame is definitely gonna help with the rest of the swales I build. I’m in decomposing granite and hard red clay so I’m mulching and planting quinoa with beans and alfalfa. I’m planting fruit trees a foot downhill from the swales, is that a good or bad idea? I love your stuff man, keep up the good work and I can’t wait to see how this new property evolves for you.👍

We live in New Mexico and have LOTS of bolders. Are swales the best way tofarm in the desert climate? We live on relatively flat land. Definitely not hilly like the video. Are swales good for flater land?

Nice vid thanks for sharing
I have one question regarding rainwater harvesting vol2 p98
Is it worth making a swale when you have a more sandy loamy soil and little clay, with grass/lawn ?
On one hand we have a runoff coefficient of about 15 so or 85% of the rainwater already infiltrates soil without swale so only 15% is lost in total.
On the other hand maybe this 85% of direct rain do not infiltrate as deep as the swale does.
And the 15% is worth much more because it’s 15% from all the garden for exemple
Question is for temperate climate 1100mm /year
Thanks in advance
