Zoom of the Milky Way’s central region

This video, which starts by showing a large-scale view of the Milky Way, zooms on the central region of our galaxy. This area was newly observed with the HAWK-I instrument on ESO’s Very Large Telescope in the Chilean Atacama Desert with an angular resolution of 0.2 arcseconds. This new stunning view of the central region of the Milky Way is visible towards the end of the video.
