I came here for the Milky way gigapixel picture and I love it. But what is that animated planet we are zooming out in the middle of clips which I find no connection to the subject? :)

Ok, so what is the significance of the computer generated, fractal landscaped planet that so happily interrupts the cool galaxy images? Why? Is it a planet? Is it a moon? It has no context and doesn't need to be there. Just saying.
