Note that you can only share your location with other Apple devices, including iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

If you’d like to just share your location on iPhone temporarily, the easiest way to do this is through iMessage. Open the Messages app and open your conversation with the person you want to share your location with. Then tap their contact icon at the top of your chat. You will have 2 options for sharing your location. If you select Send My Current Location, you can send them a map pin to the location where you are currently. This pinned location will not move around even if you leave that spot. If you select Share My Location, they will be able to actively see where you are, even if you’re moving around. You can choose to share your location for one hour, until the end of the day, or indefinitely. Once you share your location, your friend will receive a message letting them know that you started sharing your location with them.

You can stop temporarily sharing your location with someone by tapping their contact icon again, and selecting Stop Sharing My Location.

If you want to share your location with someone indefinitely, you can do this through the Find My app. Open Find My and tap People at the bottom. Now tap Start Sharing Location. Type in the name of the contact you want to share your location with. Your friend will be notified that you’ve started sharing your location with them, and they will be able to see your location in the People tab of the Find My app.

If you want to stop sharing your location, tap the name of the person you want to stop sharing your location with. Scroll down and select Stop Sharing My Location. Tap Stop Sharing Location to confirm.

That’s all it takes to share your location with friends on iPhone.
