Just had a chance to look at this as I am reviewing old exams with my students. One note I would point out is that the phase change for question #4 part b would be between the air and oil since the index of refraction for air is less than that of oil. There is no phase change at the oil/water interface since the index of refraction of oil is greater than that for water. Also, the wavelength of light would change in oil which further contributes to the interference described in the problem.

26:09 why don’t we include the volume of the steel beams when writing density of water times volume of boat times g? So instead of writing Vb, write Vb plus N Vsteel

Hey Mr.Fullerton thanks for this video, I was just curious in your opinion, how many points they would take off if our final express for the number of steel beams was (Mboat - Pwater*Vd)/Psteel*Vsteel instead of (Pwater*Vd - Mboat)/Psteel*Vsteel, this would give you the correct number just the negative of it(I made a dumb algebra mistake). Thank you
