D1 & D2

Phonemic Awareness is an underlying skill of reading. This video uses lists from D1 and D2 of David Kilpatrick's "Equipped for Reading Success." Each level systematically builds upon the next. Levels D1 and D2 are the beginning and most foundational levels as it works with deleting syllables from words containing two syllables. For each level, I do 10 "practice items" using a scaffold. The next 10 items, I only say the clue. In order to be considered "automatic" a student should be able to answer correctly in less than 2 seconds for at least 80% of the given items.
