Saint Peter understood the book of Enoch very well and it was quoted in Jude as well wasn’t it? I believe that although it’s embellished it’s reliable, not because it’s inspired by God Himself but because it’s the expression of the people and their experiences with the ancient world and it’s a glimpse into the past as well as a faithful expression of what they understood to be true by the teachings of Old Testament combined with their experiences. It’s a good way to understand the ancient sites of the ancient world, these illegitimate gods definitely existed and came from somewhere. I think the book of Enoch and the Bible give a clear interpretation and inarchaeological evidence reinforces that.

I heard a full copy was found in Qumran caves with the Dead Sea Scrolls. Which puts a full copy much older, like 100-1BC

I think the fact that it's referenced in the NT by Jude and others gives us cause to take it seriously . Personally I've only ever taken the 1st book as real. I love hearing Wes's research. So good.

I still have a few clarifying questions. What part of Enoch was written BC, and what part was written AD? Who are the assumed original authors of Enoch and why? And lastly, what are the differences between the historical context and legitimacy of Enoch 1 and Enoch 2?

I would say something but it doesn’t sound like anyone in the comments has actually read the book of Enoch. And Wes is just saying that some of it is from the time period and some is not. But it does answer a lot of questions we have about Slavery and such etc… in the Old Testament.

There’s tons of reasons why Enoch isn’t included as cannon. One of them being that one author implies that Enoch was the Messiah not Jesus which is pretty blasphemous, far more than any of the books of the Apocrypha.

Regarding The Book of First Enoch: 1 Enoch 71:14 calls Enoch (not Jesus) "The Son of Man". This is a Messianic title reserved only for Jesus. Please keep in mind there is a tremendous difference between calling someone "a son of man" (such as with Ezekiel in The Holy Bible) and calling someone "The Son of Man".

This was such a an issue, that R.H.Charles changed the wording of 1 Enoch 71:14 in his translation because the original wording made him uncomfortable (as it should). R.H. Charles admits in his notes that his translation is not supported by the original text used in his translation. His peers agreed also that R.H. Charles was incorrect in his translation.

This heresy places the book of first Enoch in error, and it is therefore not divinely inspired, as The Holy 66 Book Canon Bible is perfect and every word is God breathed and without error.

The comments here of people desperately grasping at straws in the hopes that the book of Enoch is Scripture is just sad to witness. It literally has things that go against/contradict established canonical Scripture. 🤦🏻‍♀️
