Both cameras are amazing for image quality and you can’t go wrong with either, but in the end the deciding factor for me was the griii fits in my jeans pocket and the x100v didn’t

In my opinion, you also need to consider the autofocus. The Ricoh's AF is quite poor—almost unusable on moving subjects or in low-light situations (like in restaurants). So, if you buy the Ricoh, you'll need to learn how to use snap focus.

I sold my GRIII to buy a Fuji X100VI, and I have to say I miss it a bit, mainly because of its compactness. The Fuji is a stunning camera, but it’s not truly compact. It’s quite challenging to carry it with you at all times.

I have the griiix & an x-e1 27mm 2.8 I love them both but i always carry the gr. I've been carrying compact digital camera's since the early 2000's so i'm very partial to small size

I wanted a new Fuji so bad (X100VI or V or other model but all out of stock) but got the Rixoh GR IIIx after a lot of research (managed to find a new one). I've never shot that much before (main use is family / holiday). Super handy and super small. I can carry it in my fanny pack and use it one handed. It doesn't attract attention because it's not that well known to the public. Snap focus is also a great feature. Only small downsides are the battery life (get 2-3 batteries for sure), fragile (get protection accessories).
The only thing I keep thinking about now is to get the GRIII as my next camera so that I have two focal lengths and switch between them every now and then. I don't want no bigger camera any more.

been using GR3 for a while now and im loving it. the only downside for me is this camera is very fragile. the dial scroll wheel that is dedicated for iso just gave up on me. and apparently theres no fix for it other than sending it back. a physical dial like the x100 series have wouldve been perfect. Guess im on the waiting list for X100V soon

The beauty is that you point out ALL the reasons why someone would use a 100vi, but leave the door open to the few uses cases where the GRIII is absolutely the right choice. Love it. But at this point, I just watch to appreciate you. I don't care what you want to post. :)

I much prefer the photos from the Fuji, they look more filmic and less digital. Plus, the body design kind of reminds me of a Leica, which I love. The Ricoh seems nice and super compact, but I’m not sure it’s the right fit for me. I really enjoy shooting film, and the Fuji feels like the digital version of a Contax G2 (especially since I love using the built-in flash). I carry a Canon AE-1 almost every day, so size definitely isn’t an issue for me 😉. Also, there’s no option to add grain to color JPEGs on the Ricoh, and I always add some in Lightroom. I’d really like a camera I can shoot with straight out of the box, no editing needed.

Great talking points! But imo you might have wanted to tun down the music during transition, a bit too loud.

Can you please do XM5 VS RICOH comparison please? Thank you!

Agree they are totally different cameras. As a fan of manual focus, the GR hands down. Plus I love the size and weight. I've had older X100 cameras and manual focus on them are a pain. So yea GR for me as I already have a Leica for anything bigger.

Thanks for this video. I'm actually considering these two cameras.

got both, but decided selling my GR3X . The low light auto focus and weather resistant capabilities is much much better on X100vi

I have X100V for several years. I recently added GRiiix and used it exclusively in our family holiday. I agree of the stealthiness and its snap focus is great. The built quality and its pocket-ability is a little overhyped. The built quality doesn’t exude confidence, it’s plasticky and I often bumped the exposure compensation back wheel or some other buttons. Pocketability? Depends on your pockets really and what accessories you add on. For example I added both the metal cap & thumb support following suggestions from YT or ‘instagrammers’ but found them both counter intuitive for my use. Few times I forgot to take off the cap & turned on the camera, the JJC thumb support is rather sharp & gets in the way if you do pocket the camera, so I have both removed. With the dials rather easily pressed, so I don’t think it’s that pocketable (and yeah, I won’t mention the potential dust/lint issue as I haven’t seen any on mine). So now I’m strapping my GR on handphone neck lanyard / wrist cord only. It’s a great little camera & I like the image quality but it’s due for built quality upgrade & weather sealing.

you were at Comic Con too?!?! Me and my friend were running around SDCC with our X100V. I also had a Leica Q and was trying to compare the two cameras

ThaThanks so much for this video. Especially the part that explained the sizes.

I had a ricoch, the image and simplicity were brilliant, the image plasticity was incredible. I sold it because of the battery life and the lack of a viewfinder. Do you think it is not possible to achieve sharpness from gr3 on fujifilm? I am thinking of buying an x100vi or xt-5 with 23 1.4. What do you think.

Were all the pictures for the Ricoh Griiix that were shown in the video from the HDF version?

both cameras look fantastic. I got my X100VI and prefer it over the GRIIIx mainly because of two things: EVF/OVF and also the dials for SS, ISO and aperture.

honestly, I think that people give much more attention to gears than to what really matters. I spent a few weeks with a XA1 from Fuji and the images turned out just as good. Of course some things are only possible, or much easier, with new(est) cameras and etc, but this thinking that you NEED a new camera to improve your shots it's just... crazy.

I know this is not the point of your video. by the way, very nice vid :)
