HP Envy x360 15' Review: Affordable and Versatile (2019)

If you are looking for a larger 15" laptop with this type of flexibility the HP Envy 15" X360 could be one of the best 2-1 laptops in 2019 especially at certain configurations. I've had this laptop as a hand-me-down for several years now. Mine is the cn-0008ca. The hardware is amazing, but I have to address a few things. First of all, the hinge mounts are plastic and the 360° hinge assembly is over-engineered. I cannot charge the laptop with the USB-C port but maybe it differs by the model. The fingerprint sensor is on the side, which I've always found a little awkward. The trackpad is massive. The RAM is upgradable — you remove the metal shielding and there are two DIMM slots. It does run a little hot on Windows 11, topping out in my tests at 80°C after repasting with Arctic MX-4. The SSD is lightning fast but there is a caddy to install an internal HDD as well. I'm not sure if it's supposed to fold flat in tablet mode though — I did say mine was a hand-me-down so I replaced the rubber strips and bent the metal casing back into shape.

Great video, concise description. I purchased it for working at home NOW bc of COVID 19. Works great . They were in very short supply on March 13, 2020 here in NY Micro Center. It was rush purchase which I never do, but two other people in the office got it, so I went for it. Only regret ias that I didn't get a config with a larger SSD drive . Mine is at 256 . Great review! Told me exactly what I wanted to know. I love how you give your personal expert preference on certain features, while being clear the average customer in that price range will probably be happy with it. Best approach I've seen to reviewing midrange/budget laptops.

My own discharges itself after shutdown and when fully charged, the battery doesn't last longer than 4 hours while surfing the web.
Apart from these 2 issues, it's a wonderful laptop and it cost me a fortune $$$.

Of course it will wobble while using in laptop mode and use the touchscreen function.. Since the screen can be turned the other way too

Awesome review! I’ve been really impressed with the x360 Envy 2n1. I believe you had the 2019 model - as the review shows the finger scanner is on the side, but the 2020 model is to the right of the spacebar (which is perfect)

That said - could you review the 2020 version as it has the upgrade 10th gen CPU?
