Tigh: "Not all of them"
A very emotional scene after the Battle of New Caprica.

Michael Hogan doesn’t get nearly enough credit for his work. This scene in particular gets me every time. From the way he carries himself, like an old man, to the crackly voice as he says “not all of them” is amazing and so sad. He says so much in four words. Of course the reaction from Olmos/Adama as his face drops slightly as he realises sells it just as well. Battlestar Galactica at its best right here.

For me, this is the scene represents some of the best of BSG. Watching Tigh struggle with what happened planetside, having to kill his own wife, then to have Adama hoisted up and praised as the savior of the fleet while Saul fades into the background, unnoticed of his own sacrifices he made to save the people on New Caprica fucking kills me. Even Gaeta just kinda moves to avoid him.

This scene brings a near tear to my eye. The decision to make this moment of return a tragic one was brilliant writing. Saul is back, but he's left a good bit of his soul on New Caprica

Cylon or not, Saul Tigh was a MAN. Imperfect, stubborn, irascible, but also self aware, competent, willing to compromise, and willing to make impossible choices at cost to himself.

Even after having to be helped down off the Raptor, with a bandage over his eye, probably pain in every part of his body and a cane, he stands up tall in front of his CO and his best friend. That's dignity for you.

Such a great character moment for Saul and Adama... probably my most beloved scene of the entire series!

What was more affecting to me than the sight of Tigh walking off (and Kara just looking lost) was Adama noticing him as he left. Great scene... thanks for uploading this in a way that wasn't too hard to find because I really didn't know how to go about typing the right words lol. I just typed in "galactica escape caprica celebrate cheering" and thankfully that wasn't too far off your mark.

The soundtrack really makes this scene. There is pain throughout. Cut out a few shots of Tigh, make the soundtrack a triumphant fanfare, and it would be completely different... and diminished.

The part where Adama is hoisted aloft and celebrated while the other two heroes (Tigh and Lee) stand quietly by, almost numb with grief from their losses, has always seemed so poignant to me. The other part that is pretty wrenching is when Starbuck breaks. She withstood so much at the hands of the Leobens but remained unbowed, unbroken, until the girl's mother comes up and she finds out that she, in fact, is not the girl's mother as Leoben had convinced her. That's when she breaks. It's terrible to watch.

Starbuck at the 1:59 mark looks around dazed and confused with wide that isnt a thousand yard stare i dont know what is, while some fought back with Bullets, or strategems, others with bombs, others used their own flesh as bargaining tools, some sold out, and many got tortured daily. She was caught up in a pyschological torture chamber. Murdering that Sweet talking Leoben time and time again. Dealing with the nonsense, the insinuations and manipulations, seeking daily how to escape only to be thwarted, and plotting how to violently murder him in furtherance of escape attempts, frustration or loosing her mind. That scene of her calmly eating a steak with the knife she stabbed in that leoben with an apparent calm composure, and cold measured movements and cuts sends shivers in my spine. She is loosing or lost it already. And is playing the game. And then suddenly it is over the fleet marines storm the jail center and tell her they are going home. All that violence and manipulation took a horrible toll on her and right she is stunned and loss and confused. Just a few a seconds and you can see it

My fave scene in the whole series. Love the broken Saul. Makes me choke up when he says to Adama that he didn't bring all of them back, meaning his wife more specifically

The moment Adama is pulled into receiving his accolades but he's looking after his heartbroken friend, it gets me every time.

Magnificent characters, magnificent acting. Nobody can sell me on a need to remake this show.

The New Caprica Arc was really the show at its peak. Great battles, great emotional beats. It's great. Then it kind of went down from there.

I was never a big fan of Katee Sackhoff in BSG, but she absolutely nailed this scene. That look of utter bewilderment, haunted by the events of New Caprica while the world smiles and celebrates around her.
