In this hair wash and classic haircut video, you will catch @ArthurRubinoff using a freestyle technique that uses the finger-tips and comb to layer the hair from top to bottom thus allowing the hair to lay flatter and more naturally on the head.

NOTE: I requested that my hair be kept longer since I had another appointment scheduled :)

Many years have passed since the last time we were in NYC, and we finally made it back to visit a wonderful barbershop museum packed with history and character in New York City’s Upper West Side! The NYC Barber Shop Museum was opened in 2018 by 4th generation barber Arthur Rubinoff.

“Dream big, have a clear vision, and refer to it often.” -Arthur Rubinoff

Arthur is very proud to be a part of barbering history; a passion Arthur says he acquired from his father. “Without the past, we’re not going to have the future,” Arthur’s father told him, “Respect the past.”

Arthur’s father inspired him to collect vintage and antique memorabilia of the barbering industry. So when Arthur’s father passed away, Arthur made a promise to create a museum to honor his father and to give respect to all the barbers in the world💈❤️

Inside this shop you experience haircuts and wet shaves in a private setting surrounded by barbershop history and memorabilia that Arthur has been collecting for more than 25 years.

You will literally be sitting alongside an 1898 Americana prototype barbers chair, a 1901 towel steamer that would have also been used to sterilize shop instruments, and an antique clockwork barber pole. When you enter the shop, you are greeted with a photo of Arthur’s father and some of his barbering tools.

Arthur says barbershops used to be social clubs; a place where people came together. That is what NYC Barber Shop Museum provides - a place to come and enjoy time in peace and understanding.

When in New York City, check out the NYC Barber Shop Museum and learn some amazing barbering history whether visiting for a service or a tour. Arthur’s passion and great stories topped off with his hair care tips made this an awesome experience!

“I am proud that I am part of this history,” Arthur told us.

30 years ago I was right out of college working in midtown Manhattan and went to get my first haircut. I went to an old school Italian barber who cut hair just like this guy. My barber only asked my one question when I was in the chair for the first time…”Where do you work?” He then cut my hair perfectly suited to my age and job. The other nice thing was that he had a shoe shine guy right there in the shop to take your shoes and shine them to perfection.

This has to be one of the all-time best haircuts on this channel. The guy is like a magician. No nonsense approach with a spectacular result.

This was great Arthur. No razzmatazz, just quiet, confident barbering. A good balance of traditional skills, with a modern twist here and there to liven things up. Thanks to Harry and his team for another great video.

Am I the only one that likes when the barbers talk? Not yelling obviously, just casual chatting or explaining.

What i like about harry is that he goes to a barber when he really needs a haircut. Not just to make as many videos 👏👏👏

Mr. Rubinoff is the real deal. A barber’s barber. Great choice, Harry, and another beautifully produced video. As always, super videography.

I love the sound of the hair falling on the cape as it's being cut. So relaxing 🤤

This guy oozes skill and confidence. Amazing work.

Also, props to the camera person. Always getting us the best shots but keeping out of the way of the “talent” and letting them do their thing. It takes a lot of observational skills while being very adept at anticipating what’s about to happen… rather unsung!

What a real treat to watch Arthur work. He's a professor of barbering. For the first 15mins we got to watch is absolute mastery of the scissors. Every cut was precise. Many techniques were demonstrated

Then he moved to the clippers. They weren't used to do the bulk of the work that you see alot of barbers doing. He was just as precise with the clippers as he was with his scissors.

You can really tell Arthur enjoys trying to master is craft.

One of the best haircuts you’ve ever had. A true master cuts your hair the way it falls naturally, rather than force it into a shape or style that will not last the hour. Good job!

LOVE the way he holds the shaving cream in his fingers and then uses his thumb to smoothly dip into the cream and apply it to the neck. I’ve never seen it done as cleverly as that.

Mr. Rubinoff, you are fantastic! My dad would have loved you because he could not find a barber in our small town that didn't just use clippers only with no scissors. (He finally ended up going to my hairstylist.) You show the proper use of clippers.
Harry, he made you look like a Master of the Universe! All you need is a suit and you're ready to go to Wall Street! Thanks for another wonderful video!
