BEST Concrete fastener!!

This is the BEST concrete fastener we have used for this application. When you want good hold down the Simpson Titen HD anchor bolt is the best concrete fastener. No need for Epoxy or a perfectly cleaned out hole. Of course you do need to say it ain't going no where for it to be solid

Job isn't complete until "That ain't going nowhere" has been declared.

I was worried you weren't going to say it! Thank God though, that structurally sound now

Not holding that metal washer straight triggered me like never before.

I can assure you there will be cracking where this bolt has been placed. These shear bolts are designed to be installed in concrete 6 inches from any leading edge or relief cut. It might be design flaw on the blue prints.
The minimum typical safe distance is 3 inches or 7.5 cm for bolt and nail installment for concrete that has been recently placed (under 1 year of drying) to avoid any cracking.

Right next to the joint. So many guys are showing us they know very little about construction. Unreal.

Damn that sucks it landed right next to the expansion joint🤷🏻‍♂️

Might have to start marking out your post locations ahead of time so the concrete guys put the joints away from baseplates.

We always add a tapcon to one corner just to keep a treated wood post from twisting as it dries out.

I like when they put the liquid cement or glue in it before the bolt as well so they know there’s no play at all!!

Right next to a control joint and only a few inches from the edge. Unfortunately that will likely crack in just a few years. Best option would have been a wet set j bolt and the control joint placed farther away

That is the WORST location it will crack in a season

To all the people commenting about how it will pop off because it’s next to a expansion joint. These are not an expanding masonry fastener. Way less chance of it cracking the concrete. I’ve had 20 plus years using these and have never had one let go. In Australia we call them anka screws.

For structural applications I like to fill the holes with epoxy, only downside, it’s expensive

Should be glued white the screw so clear to the edge it will crack from the tension

If you read the box, it says these are supposed to be driven in by a ratchet because it strips easily.

That is right on the edge. Very likely to crack that thin sliver of concrete

It bothered me that the square washer didn’t line up with the square box 😪

Screw almost on the edge of block - excellent idea.

They are great anchors for sure, strong and fast.
Myself I like to use chemical anchors on concrete on a floor that is outside exposed to the elements, as the chemical anchors also seal up the hole. I don’t know if this anchor will be exposed to the elements…?
Rust can be a real problem here in Tokyo. For walls or overhead the Tapcons (or whatever they are called) are the way to go.
For the guys worrying about it being close to the expansion joint, don’t be, these Tapcons cut a thread in the concrete, they don’t cause much expansion if any, like a strike anchor does, chill out dudes, Kyle knows what he is doing.
Cheers from Tokyo.
