I'm being asked about English speaking skills very often, that's why this video. You want to improve? Here is hot-list: 1) read English books; 2) watch movies in English, with subtitles; 3) find someone to chat with online, not about work; 4) go to the United States of America and stay there for a few months; 5) make lectures or presentations in English; 6) write in English, like blog post or anything that someone else will have to read. This is what helps me to practice and not to be afraid of speaking English.

My conference talks, mostly in English:

I work with a lot of non-native English speakers and this is a fascinating insight into why our communication is often difficult - mainly because behind our speech, the underlying logic can be so different. But it also makes it so interesting knowing there is a whole new culture behind!

Thank you for sharing. This is very sound advice. I especially like how you mention giving lectures about work related topics in English, speaking with others informally with small talk conversation, and traveling to an English speaking country as an immersive experience. YES! As an English Communication Coach for IT professionals, I help my clients develop language and communication skills so they can prepare for job interviews in English and also so they can work more efficiently at their jobs. Have courage to do it, build your confidence by going out of your comfort zone and keep practicing!

At least I could reach the level I can listen and clearly understand what he's saying. In previous year, I cannot get it fully. It's a great advice.

I love that modern way of thinking, when you focus on something concrete, something meaningful. In case, you don't waste your time on other languages, yeah, they are great, but not helpful. I could say, this is a business thinking, and Yegor make a great job translating that to people.
