The skiing stance is dynamic as it must flex and adjust to the variations in terrain. I like to prompt skiers I work with by telling the to get “knees over toes, hips over heels and hands in front like holding the handlebars of a mountain bike”. I do a lot of trail riding in the forest and find it is great cross training. When you ride a bike your hands never fall behind, when you ride a turn your outside leg is extended and inside leg is shorter as the pedals are in the 12 +6 o’clock position. There’s certain similar moves as in skiing. You also look at where you want to go not at what you hope to avoid.

Whenever I'm skiing badly, I simply exaggerate my arms out in front of me, and this seems to get me back on track.

I would argue that full camber versus tip and/or tail rocker skis will affect how forward or not you should be. He looks too upright for full camber skis.

I found the best way to check is standing on one foot for a few seconds, or use one foot turn.

It’s sound like the same instructor in ski school series

Your boots have a built in forward lean. From there, just stand up in a natural and comfortable position. The tongue of your boot and your inside hip are the brake pedals in skiing. Added pressure on the tongue will take weight off the back and apply it to the steering wheels of skiing, the tips. The tip will bend more and the tails will slide around more. To stop or slow down even quicker, lean your inside hip into the turn which will increase your leg angle and put the ski more on edge which allows them to bend even more. Always keep your upper body as vertical as possible so no matter which foot you are on, you will always be balanced and with the same leg angle when you are on either foot.

I can make left turns fairly easy on steep terrain, when making a right turn I sometimes have to lift my back ski. What am I doing wrong, or do I just need more experience

Funny that at at 1:13 he doesn't have his hands out in front of him, but ten seconds later he says, "keeps those hands out in front of you."

What I've never seen by these 'instructors' is a video on how best to anticipate and compensate for the underlation, dips and rises, of the snow in regards to ski stance. They all seem to ski wide perfectly groomed wide slopes where we all know hardly any of us recreational skiers hardly ever see.

Whenever I try a narrow stance, the fronts of my skis cross together. I can never keep my feet close together like I see others doing. My skis are slightly wide in the front. Maybe I should have a friend film me skiing lol maybe I look better than I think. Been skiing for 27 years
