Hope you all enjoy this creepy little tale! Been a while since we tackled a straight up haunted house so had a lot of fun with this one. Let me know what you make of the claims the family made...

Sending *your kid into a strange hidden space in the house. Then your kid saying they thought they’d seen a corpse and you not following up on it with authorities is severely messed up.

I have a nice ghost story. We bought our lovely home from an old Polish couple. They went through and showed us every improvement they made on the house and walked us through their vegetable garden. We promised to take care of the house and garden, and they moved back to Poland. About three years after moving in, I had heard that the husband died. I thought about him all day as I puttered around looking at all the things he built. After I put my son to bed, i came out and right in the middle of the living room was a tomato. Everyone was asleep or away, our pets were curled up, there was no trail of juice, just a tomato in the middle of the living room on the floor. I knew it was our old Polish friend, letting me know he's checking up on us. It was very comforting.

My kitty, my best friend of 14 years, died from lymphoma about two months ago.
She was always glued to me. I’m disabled, so we were together nearly 24/7.
She always cuddled with me and rested her head in the crook of my elbow with my arm wrapped around her.

I have two other kitties, but they do not cuddle as much.

Since my fur baby has been gone, I sometimes feel light pressure next to me. I always think it is one of my other cats, but when I look, nothing is there.

I really feel like she is still with me. ❤

Aloha from Hawai'i! I'm a firefighter-paramedic out here, I could tell you stories about haunted stations, weird sounds in ambulances, and guys getting "pressed" in their sleep here. Too much to list. So, short answer: _yes, absolutely._

The introduction was amazing.

Just think of the idea that being outside, in the cold, dark woods, alone, in nothing but thin sleepwear, that that being SAFE compared to whatever is inside one’s own home, makes whatever might be in that home terrifying.

As a lifelong Chemistry Major I can attest that most of the haunted mansion stories like this all bear the hallmarks of brain damage from household chemicals. The myriad of preservatives, paints, varnishes, imported woods/finishes, laquers... Not to mention all the chemicals used by exterminators, both to deal with infestations and to prevent them during construction, are very much capable of persisting for decades. While asbestos/lead was common there are thousands more localy hazardous chemicals seeping into the air/water from the ground and pipes. A case i bring up in classes happened in chicago just a couple Years Ago; In a large antique/thrift store there was a metal 8oz metal canister, swelled to the bursting point, labeled termite treatment. This can was at the point where it was one drop away from rupturing... Despite no warnings or occupation hazard labels, being over 30 years old at this point, I looked up the chemical in the store (As i do whenever finding a chemical i have never seen before), to find it had been banned since the late 80's. The reason, partly responsible for its use, being that the organochloride chemical builds up in interior spaces, within walls and crawlspaces and the like, persisting in measurable amounts for more than 2 decades after JUST a single application.
It's things like this that make me wonder how many old houses have, when being built, treated, or just visited by an old school exterminator, have a so-called curse hanging in the air for decades after.
Things I alway find in stories where this could be a factor are always smells, then auditory, followed by visual disturbances. Then lapses in memory. FOllowed by changes in personality, in some cases a full 180 ... These things always seem worst at night, in winter, or during poor weather... Any time when all windows in a home are usually closed. These are generally worst in homes too large to regularly ventilate, such as with too many rooms to make opening then closing every window take more than 5 minutes or with a main hallway with 5 + doors per floor and 2 or more stories... Generally rules of Five...

Again, hearing people who become far worse at night, or mysteriously much better on vacation, during visits to family, then sudden relapses within hours of returning.
People who do certain exercises, instruments, or hobbies find themselves doing so compulsively as this tends to regulate the breathing and keeps one in a single area for lengths of time. Things like singing, storytelling, cooking, reading, or playing instruments... If in doubt simply focus on your breathing next time you read or play the piano and watch how your breathing becomes far more regular than at any other time in the day/night.

Furthermore, there was a famous story of a man who had walled himself up inside the basement of his home. Only to, when discovered years later, be found in a state that indicated he returned to sanity as the airway was entirely closed off. Immediatly showing regret and clarity, then trying to break his way out, only to find that a set stone wall was alot harder to break that to build, if lacking the tools to do so...

To give some context, I had an uncle who passed away from a medical condition when I was 4 years old. Now some 20 years later, im laying down in bed reading before going to sleep, one ear on the pillow and the other in the air. I had a fan on to add some white noise.

Out of nowhere I heard what sounded like music, some sort of rock music, but only from the ear that was in the pillow. I sat up, but couldn't hear anything except the fan. I laid back down, and sure enough after a few moments the music was back. I actually got out of bed and walked into the hallway in complete darkness to see if maybe my parents left the TV on downstairs. Nothing, no lights no TV, no sound at all. Once again, when I laid back down the music was there moments later.

The next morning I asked my parents about it, and my Dad laughed and said "You heard it to? That's your uncle coming to visit. He loved rock music."

Not a scary story, but something that I definitely think about.

The way the house seems to change and the escalating fear within the family is incredibly unsettling. The detail about the hole in the wall and what they found...wow. I'm hooked!

Another Tape Library classic. On another note, if contracters aren't willing to come out and help rebuild, I am almost certain that is a sign to leave. Don't tempt fate and leave.

Every time I open a Tape Library video, I always lament the fact that I never end up remembering to get myself a warm drink. Tonight, I'm pleased to announce that I have managed to grab a warm drink, and can now fully enjoy the Tape Library experience.

I saw my brother once. He died from cancer and I was struggling with his passing. It had been a couple months later and I saw him. It was him and not a demon as some have said. After it happened, I understood that he was ok. No more cancer. I still miss him so badly, but I know he's ok.

I've lived in two very old houses that turned out to be haunted. They were angry and mean in the beginning in both houses which frightened us kids but our grandfather taught us to be calm and kind to see if we could find peace and harmony with them. One day after having a horrible nights sleep due to an extremely heavy pressure on my chest so bad I could barely breathe or move the second it lightened up a jumped up and ran to my grandfather crying. He told me to lay down next to him. When I did you could visibly see the impression of someone sitting down on my grandmas side of the bed. I was about to freak out when my Grandfather said "I don't know what happened when you were alive in this house but I want you to know nothing bad will happen to you now. So can we exist together in peace? Will you let my granddaughter sleep without being scared? You can take a nap with us if you need rest as well." slowly the heavey dark feeling lifted and then you could see what clearly looked like a womans figure lay down on my grandmas side by the impression it made. The house felt like their was a sudden calm all through out it. As I started to drift off to seem laughing my head on my grandfathers chest I felt a very light tapping of a womans hand on my back as if a mother was patting her childs back so they could sleep. Every time we moved we brought this understanding and teaching our grandfather gave us and spirits would calm down. They would no longer be mean and dangerous but helpful and occasionally mischievous when bored. They would play jokes by slamming a door or cabinet and make you jump but as soons as you would say "alright now thats not funny you rascal." in one of those startled giggles you would feel the room feel with the atmosphere you feel when in a room full of laughter and they would go back to being quiet and making sure you never lost something. I've had some bad experiences but it was never at a home I lived at. It was only when visiting sites where murders happened in the past or murders graves. if you like true crime these places are easy to find and you get curious as to what the atmosphere of that place is and you go and visit. The second haunted house we lived in actually had an old graveyard that was filled with people who died from the black death so there was always restless and angry spirits there. It was just at the top of the driveway and I would go up there. I never touched the ground with my hands or anything but I would take a new broom each time and brush off a tombstone and while doing it I'd read off their names and the dates and say out loud "I know it's been a while since someone visited you but I'm here to offer you flowers." and with gloved hands I'd rest roses or hydrangeas from my grandmas garden leaning agaisnt the tombstone. it slowly stopped feeling heavy and i always wondered about that graveyard after we moved. I went by the other day and someone has completely cleaned up the brush and even washed the tombstones.

I lived in a house on Fort Riley, KS for two years that was definitely haunted. Shades pulled themselves up, objects were moved around by nobody, and there was always the creepy feeling of being watched.

My dog once saw something walking back and forth across my bedroom that I couldn't see. Soon after moving into a new place (a house built in the late 1800s), I was reading in bed before going to sleep, when my dog suddenly bristled, stood up and started growling & watching something that seemed to be going back & forth across the room at the foot of my bed. This went on for about 20 minutes. I didn't see or sense anything at all but she never took her eyes off of whatever it was that I couldn't see. Finally my dog stopped & calmed down - and I slept with the lights on that night! I still live in that house, with the occasional odd thing happening, but my dog watching something pacing back & forth seems "proof" to me of a possible haunting.
