I've never been muych of a fan of having signed versions of books just for the sake of it but when it's connected to a memory or a story like that it's so lovely and makes way more sense!

This was so wonderful to watch - thank you for sharing! :) I haven't got many signed books but it's the stories behind the signings that make them special. I think meeting Terry Pratchett would've been amazing, given the chance, he seemed like such a kind and funny man.

I adored The Crane Wife! It would be wonderful to meet him some day. I met Holly Black a couple years back during her The Coldest Girl in Cold Town book tour. She was absolutely fabulous! One of the best experiences of my life.

Really enjoyed this video Jean! This summer I went travelling across the West Coast of America and while I was at Alcatraz and ex prisoner was there and he signed a copy of his book for me. It was so amazing to meet him and the book will always remind me of that incredible day :) xx

The John Green story was really adorable! Even though you didn't get to meet him it's really nice that you got that signed book and it got you back into reading:) I remember those videos too btw lol! I'm really not a big fan of his books (I despise Looking for Alaska) but John Green as a person is so fun and funny! I actually got to interview him while I was in high school and he was really great:)

I travelled all the way from Italy to The Netherlands to meet Terry Pratchett at a festival. And I remember it took me months of preparations to choose which books to take with me (it ended being Small Gods, my all time favourite, and Witches Abroad which was then my second favourite, since surpassed by The Night Watch).
Meeting him and talking to him is a thing I will treasure for my whole life, it still brings tears to my eyes to think about it aand though he joked that unsigned copies of his books were worth more, because of how many he signed, those two are among my most prized possessions

Neil Gaiman had the longest queue at the Book Festival a few years ago, but he signed everybody's book and even said to us 'thanks for waiting'!

I love how all of these have a story, and so it's about more than the material object. That's important to remember, I think :)

I am determined to get to Edinburgh Book Festival one day, one day. This video was very apt... My mother and I were having a big chat about signed books the other day and I was saying its a memory of meeting the author and the event. I too have a Marlon signed book, I fell head over heels for him when I met him to record the Green Carnation Prize winners speech. I might have freaked him out.

I loved this video, so cool to hear about the meanings the books hold for you! I have two signed books by James Kelman, who spoke at my university last year (and he was brilliant), and two books signed by Ali Smith who I unfortunately haven't met yet but my boyfriend wrote to her for my birthday and she sent me two personally signed books (best birthday gift ever haha)!

I have a few Ali Smith books signed, from last year's Edinburgh Book Festival!

so lovely to hear the stories behind the signed books. I agreed with that the memory of meeting the authors is what makes the signed books special! I have met and listen to Margaret Atwood and got Alias Grace signed! And also I saw David Mitchell this year and he signed the thousand autums of Jacob Zoet. Normaly internasjonal authors don't find their way to Oslo so therefore it was extra special to met them. They were speaking as part of the future library project. I would like to met J.k. Rowling ( like everybody else inn the world) also Patrick Rothfuss, Zadie Smith and if he was a live Tolkien! 😊

I have a signed copy of A Feast for Crows which I treasure, when I met George R R Martin for about a second a couple of years ago :). I'd love a signed Harry Potter (of course) or an Ali Smith or Jeanette Winterson book. Hope more booktubers do videos like this, I love hearing the stories behind people's signed books!

Great video! One of my most prized signed books is an old copy I found of the Handmaid's Tale and not only was it signed but it was a US first edition. I think I got it for like $6 :P I recently preordered signed editions of two of my favorite books which are celebrating big milestones this year, Vampire Academy and A Game of Thrones. I am so excited!

This is cool :) I have a couple of signed books I got in Waterstones but Candyfloss by Jacqueline Wilson is the only one where I actually met her. She told me she liked my shoes. I was a massive fan of hers as a kid so I was made up at that. I also went with my boyfriend to meet Jo Abercrombie and Bernard Cornwell so he could get books signed.
