Eating Filipino Breakfast on Lockdown in El Nido. OMG 😋 Philippines Palawan Quarantine

In today’s video we’re trying Filipino breakfast for the first time! We’re stuck here in El Nido, Palawan, the Philippines, and our resort includes breakfast including a couple of Filipino options.

We try two different breakfasts, one called Tapsilog, which is a sweet pork meat and also included garlic fried rice, a fried egg, cucumber and a banana. The other breakfast was long Longsilog. It is a pork sausage (similar to what we’d have in North America), and included the same things as the other breakfast - garlic rice, friend egg, cucumber and banana.

Later on we answered more questions that you asked including if we ever plan to stop travelling and retire, how we do laundry and if there’s anywhere we’d like to move to.

*The red meat is called tocino (toh-SEE-no), the garlic rice is sinangag (SEE-nah-ngag), the egg is itlog (it-LOHG)..*
*Combine first syllable of each, you get TOSILOG (TOH-see-lohg).*
*Don't worry if you can't pronounce sinangag, everybody knows what you mean if you say 'garlic rice'.* 😊😊

Proper way to eat Filipino way is with spoon and fork. Use spoon as your knife.

Eat rice plus viand in one spoonful.

Really really interesting to hear how your traveling "show" evolved. I love travel deeply but couldn't do it all the time. Need time between trips. Reliving trips and dreaming the next trip is half the joy. You guys are natural travelers and it's great fun going with you.

Those Nescafe sachets are also in hotels in Australia. We use Nescafe at home here in Sydney also 😊

You can use spoon instead of fork to scoop everything up in one go.👍 You dip tocino or longganisa into vinegar best with chilli.

I can feel your chemistry. You are now part of my daily routine...your vlogs look very natural, not scripted, spontaneous...stay well and safe there. I have been to Puerto Princesa but not yet El Nido, they are both in Palawan...💖

you know, you guys are the epitome of "lemons to lemonade"...thanks for taking a tough time around the world and still providing content that entertains without diminishing the severity of what is happening. Thanks for answering my question; Portugal is lovely; great weather, food and people. I am looking forward to, not surprisingly, retire to Greece in a few years. Kinda like the circle of life; born in Athens, move to the states, retire to Athens..lol! Great job, as always; stay safe!

Thanks for keeping up with the almost daily vlogs! As for the breakfast plates, I typically dip any proteins in the vinegar to wash off or lessen the oil on top of adding a bit of acidity flavor before mixing it with rice.
