Best Fire? Swedish Top Down Fire or Top-Down Fire Method - The Upside Down Fire and How To Build It

In-depth look in real time (time lapse ish) of how the Swedish Top Down Fire method works. How it burns in an outdoor campfire, a wood burning stove and fireplace and how to make it. Also known as the Upside Down Fire or Top-Down Fire. This fire starting / building technique is the best for low maintenance camp fires and wood burning stoves. Testing this in winter conditions with snow on the ground in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, Canada and also in a fireplace and a wood burning stove.
In a top-down fire larger logs are placed at the bottom of the burn with progressively smaller logs overlapping and kindling is added on the top of the wood pile. I always use this system in my fireplaces, it reduces creosote buildup as you always have the flames going on on top with less unburnt gasses going up the chimney.

Best video on this method I have seen. Good to see you put a little kindling on top of your firelighter material. I have seen many videos where people put firelighter on the top of the pile. The flame burns upwards and the kindling doesn't light as quickly causing more smoke.

This method works great. Only had to use a small amount of paper and cardboard with the kindling. The traditional way uses a lot more paper and kindling to get the fire started.
