Using Gears 3D motion analysis we take a look at the idea of making a golf swing using a wide to narrow motion. Using gears 3d we measure the best players in the world so we know exactly what is happening in the golf swing.

Hi Shaun
It would appear that the downswing track for this player is outside the backswing for this player. Like Gary woodland. Would it be fair to say that for most players the downswing would be on the inside of the backswing track ?

Great video.    Is there ANY attempt to widen or release the angle in the right arm on the way down?   Or is this happening because of the overall body motion etc....

This is money. At the takeaway the focus is on the right elbow bending whilst in the downswing the focus shifts to the wrists uncocking.

From the top feel like you're going to strike the ball with the back of the hosle. Golf is an illustration

Seriously, the myths are in your head. You are really just overthinking the whole thing - like everyone does - to try and give justification for their lousy shots.
Sure there's something you're doing wrong - which is why your shot is bad - but the positioning, and carried out motion of your swing is not the issue.
You obviously have all the determining factors to a perfect shot, you understand that position to the club at contact with the ball is crucial with no room for error. You have but a small dot on your club, and one on the ball where the goal is to create contact: the smallest glitch in your swing will disturb that alignment and effect the accuracy of your shot the further apart these two dots are from each other at time of contact.

Distance (long shots) play into this issue, while keeping stokes to a minimum is key for winning. This requires technique in your stroke for maintaining position on the club when making contact with the ball - aligning the dots - having to swing your hips as to assist in carrying your stroke and putting more power into it, your alignment is disturbed therefore having to adjust your swing. Now technique comes with experience, and it's a natural giving that you adapt with time, as you get the feeling of your swing, your body posture and any glitches from the force behind the stroke adjustments start to come in naturally. The more you get a feel for it, the better adjustments you'll make and the more your shots will improve .

The same techniques that work for one person can be applied to and work for anyone - if executed properly - however it may be more difficult in perfecting. Everyone is not molded the same, we each develop our own distinctive characters and any glitches may vary as some people may tense up more then other when using force, or simply just as one's height, body poster, shape, and limbs lengths, even joint movement could be entirely different: it is in each person to develop a swing that works for them and even then you can only perfected as consistently as you have the conscious to.
There's only one possible perfect shot, and no one is perfect. A clear conscious, in-line, stable, calm, patient, focused, tolerant and in-tune consistency makes the best drivers on a curse.
