At first I thought this was a bit BS, but when you outlined how the 'vision' was not about the boring refridgerator - but the real vision was about the 'future' of the fridge. That it could suggest recipes based on past foods bought. And that it could buy things when they are low. That was the real value point here. Awesome post. Now I get it.

But wouldn't you agree that a products vision is also driven by the company's vision of why it exists. Take the refrigerator example, if the company manufacturing the fridge is solving the problem of stale food, hence our fridge hence fresh food hence nutrition hence healthier lifestyle choices and so on. Redesigning to an iot thing where the fridge does everything is encouraging lethargy therefore laziness and therefore poor lifestyle choices. Thats counterproductive, yes? Your inputs would be nice
