Pain Neuroscience Education

Of the different models of education emerging in the past decade, pain neuroscience education is a front runner. It can be used to decrease the focus on specific anatomical structures and reconceptualize the patient’s pain to focus more on recovery rather than causes of pain. It applies the biopsychosocial model of pain, integrating treatment of peripheral and central nociceptive components with other contributors of pain. But what is pain neuroscience education?
