It's mind blowing to see people talk about a few doctors who unbelievably surpassed 1M a year when Kim Kardashian takes home this amount of money for an Instagram post.

I don’t have problems with doctors making money. They literally spend a decade to become doctors. That’s a dedication. Not many of us have that much stamina to stay in school for this long. We need dedicate people like doctors. Thank you for giving up your social life and a lot more to be part of a healthcare team.

As an eye surgeon, I think it’s great that doctors get paid so well. It takes years to learn such high level skills. No amount of money is enough. Being a private consultant anywhere in the world is way more difficult than an institutional practice.

another great video, I also live in Manchester and I had a very bad time last year with a burst appendix. Without the help of doctors I would of passed away. They deserve a lot more than what they get end of conversation :)

It's also to important to note professional outgoings for both NHS and private doctors. As the salary goes up, the fees go up. This is especially true in the private sector where there are administration fees, staffing, rooms rental, and the big one - indemnity. Also, surgical training is full of bottle necks and compulsory exams and courses so it would be interesting to look at the average time taken from medical school to consultant level between different specialties!

My husband trained for about 20 years before he became a consultant cardiologist in the NHS !!! It’s not easy at all!

Sick video! I guess it’s important to realise that these doctors earning a shit ton are a tiny tiny minority. For the majority, we won’t be on lambo money but we’ll live a nice comfortable life & I guess that’s good enough

I have great respect for medicine doctor. I have worked for the NHS at the Hospital for many years as a domestic. I'm sad about the low salaries I have for the NHS. I do a variety of education, but there is no grade for domestic. I work for a minimum wage for a hard job😢😢!

I’m a little taken aback by the intro. How transparent you are about your own salary without sounding boastful, it’s quite an art. Nice video

It will be interesting to analyse the cost to become consultant too. Those years for studying will have a lot of fees.

As a fellow medic and whilts I appreciate that this video's true intention is for informing, I fear that this might rekindle any of the backlash that we may have gotten when we went for industrialisation branding the profession as either greedy or ungrateful. Just a thought.

I work in the NHS. I had thought of specialising in gynaecology, because money is not the only reward. I actually work in ‘digital communications’ and my earnings potential is almost equal to that of a junior doctor, who has spent far more time in training and learning and perfecting his/her skills than me. So, I don’t begrudge doctors a punny of their hard earned money!

There is a bariatric surgeon where I work that does a private patient list every weekend, sometimes even two lists per week. Surgeon fee is about £3500 per patient. My estimation is they make an average of per month on top of their NHS salary.

I wonder why people are upset when doctors who study hard and have a high pressure job, make a lot of money. they don't mind when women show their bodies for a lot of money.

I’ve also argued that a better metric is an hourly rate and over the course of a career, in which case I think you’d find General Practice comes way ahead…. You’ve reached CCT in just three years and work far fewer hours than hospital trainees for their extra training years and even into consultancy. Pound for pound, hour for hour, I think GP is a brilliant option! Thoughts? Has anyone done similar maths?

Up most respect for anyone in the healthcare system. The time and effort needed to get to such career levels takes years of hard work and sacrifice. All I can say is thank you.

That was an interesting one 🤯. I thought moving out of the UK was the only way someone could earn this much!

Hi Kiran. Thank you so much for a very interesting and enlightening presentation. Could you please present or indicate how GP's practices who administered the covid vacines to the public were remunerated by the NHS during the covid pandemic. Thank You so much.
