☘️ One question I often get is: “Do I use rib cartilage in revision rhinoplasty?” In about 90% of my revision cases, the answer is no.💫

The best source of cartilage is still your septum, as long as it hasn’t been fully removed during your previous surgery.

There are two key factors: First, the previously operated scarred area needs to be dissected properly, and a small piece of cartilage harvested without causing any structural collapse. Second, the surgical technique should require less cartilage to achieve the desired result.

The decision to use rib cartilage is made during surgery. Until I can see and feel the quality of your septal cartilage, I can’t fully assess if it’s enough for the procedure. In rare cases where the septum isn’t sufficient, I harvest rib cartilage, which only adds about 30 minutes to the surgery—but you’ll still get a great result.

Thank you for your interest!
