In the 90’s we were concerned about the added weight and things like the suspension changing the chainstay length as you ride. Even in the late 90’s to early 2000’s a 30lb ish or more bike, in order to get full suspension, was a sucky proposition unless you were doing downhill. Also the idea of a 120mm travel bike wasn’t “short travel” like it is now. It’s basically a different sport now.

Early 2000's were the most exiting times with the dual rear shock multilinkage designs.

Hard tails for dirt jumps and parks, full suspension is for everything else!!

Dude. Early 90s? There were already some great...for then... options. Yes shocking (sorry for the pun) even 10-15 years later. But compared to where we came from they were amazing. Especially for those of us from a moto background who understood the possible outcomes. Today's options are like getting on a time machine to go way forward. But for the moto guys like me, not so much. Just finally the engineers have caught up 😊

I miss my old fully rigid steely. Clattering about the countryside without a care.
All this tech means we can go faster, but actually, why? Who cares about going faster in the real world!

We had bicycle suspension in the 1970’s. Get your facts straight
