How to do this.
1. Somebody in the water with a bottle and a phone in it. Make sure it works, has connectivity, and has a fake phone app where you can put in a person's name remotely.
2. Somebody with the same phone that's in the bottle. Get their name.
3. Take that person's phone and switch it with an identical phone. Place it in a sound proof pocket, or figure out how to turn the sound down for the ringer without unlocking it.
4. Have a second person call their phone. It will ring, but they won't be able to hear it. At the same time activate the fake phone app on the phone in the bottle.
5. The phone is stuck in the bottle so they won't know it doesn't belong to them.
6. Take the bottle from them, wrap it up in something opaque, break the bottle, bring their real phone out of wherever you stashed it. Hide the not their phone in the opaque material.
Done!

Penn & Teller do this trick by putting the phone in a fish.

the editing is the magic, honestly it's really smart. He hides the cuts by swapping to different camera feeds and it makes it appear to be completely raw and uncut.
