The BTCC is the UK's best loved domestic series. Full coverage on ITV4 on a Sunday, biffing, barging, elbows out racing from 10am to 6pm.

But I seem to talk a lot about this series and how good it is, so allow me to try and explain to you the basics and how you can get into the series. Watching outside of the UK is difficult, but if you can- Do.

Enjoy! And remember to like and subscribe for more!

You should do recaps for the BTCC weekends as you do for F1, It'll be interesting

The BTCC is the best racing series anywhere on earth right now - healthy grids, plenty of really quick guys, exceptional racing, and not locked behind a paywall.

Would be criminal to not highlight some of the fantastic things on the Support Package - there's a young driver called Harry King in the Porsche Carrera Cup who is the most explosive talent I've ever seen in a sportscar, the early 2000's class of the Minis produce cracking racing everytime they are on show, and we occasionally get cool one off's like Classic Mini Sevens or the GOAT Historic Super Touring Championship.

But the king of the support bill is the Ginetta Junior Championship. Take a bunch of 14-17 year olds who are new to car racing, give them a purpose built 100 bhp sports car, and have them go four wide through most of the corners on any given circuit - it is absolutely spectacular to watch, and gives a glimpse of who is gonna be ones to watch going forward - a certain Lando Norris got his first car racing experience in Ginetta Juniors, as did W Series champion Jamie Chadwick, and current BTCC fan favourite Tom Ingram.

I remember BTCC in the mid 90's, watching the races on Speedvision and then "trying" to play the game on the PS1-those cars were so damn hard to keep on track! Cannot help but admire the fact that Plato (and a few others) are STILL racing in the series!

Thanks for the heads up. ITV4 makes for a good sunday afternoon with the Touring Cars and support races. One thing I love is the fact you have about 4-5 contenders in the last 3 races where you've a couple outsiders and 2-3 contenders a few points apart. The drama is epic.

When I was getting into motorsports ~15 years ago I always assumed the top-tier world championship was better than a regional championship...then I watched WTCC and BTCC and that assumption got blown COMPLETELY out of the water!

I remember when the Nissan Primeras dominates in the late 90s. They were so good in the wet. I owned one too at that time and thought my car was also good in the wet, until I hit another car. I hadn’t been driving long. I’m less stupid now.

I’m one of the furthest things from a BTCC beginner but you can bet I’ll still be watching this guide.

We watch the whole programme in my home as well!

I'm argentinian and I recently found the BTCC, looking for some touring car series that could be similar to those who are raced in my country. I really enjoyed the first time I watched the BTCC and this video is very useful for me, because it allowed me to understand better the series. Despite I joined late the party this year, I would be supporting the series from now on. Thanks, Aidan for this incredible video!

2:18 According to the press releases, the engines will remain the same previously homologated engines as before. The part that is changing for 2022 is the gearbox that contains the electric motors.

Started getting back into BTCC last year after years away and it was very entertaining and pleasant surprise. ITV's live coverage is brilliant but it does guarantee that nothing else gets done on a Sunday.

'If you like Max Verstappen you'll probably like Ash Sutton'
Genuinely spot on for me. I like Rory Butcher too, always like to see him do well and anyone who races in a Ford too, due to my family being fairly Ford mad.

I really would like to see Anglesey added to the calender for BTCC, then there would be rounds in England, Scotland and Wales. It's such a scenic circuit also, would be the BTCC's Monaco on the coast with the mountains back drop!

Absolutely love the BTCC.. Between 2008 and 2012 I would go to all the Rounds live.. I do miss those days.. Will be routing for Turkington myself personally, really want to see him win that 5th Drivers title.. Let's not forget that Gordon Shedden is also back so he will definitely be one to watch even if his time in WTCR was slightly disappointing. But yes It's a motor racing series I recommend to anyone..

The support races are blood epic, especially the hatchbacks and Ginettas. Porsches are good too, Tim Harvey being and old hand there as well as btcc. As for some other BTCC dark horses, Adam morgan is one to keep an eye on. He's well seasoned now and on reverse grids can present an obstacle. TBF Most of the drivers are very capable and not for the faint of heart and given some of the antics of old you're almost assured one complete outsider or two during the season hitting the podium, which is alway nice to see.
