Fun fact: Diamonds spawn much more in places with less air exposure, this is why Diamonds usually appear in just 1 or 2 blocks when caving. The best way to mine for diamonds is getting a water breathing potion and the enchantment that lets you mine in average speed whilst underwater and search for an Aquifer lurking in the deepest depths, specifically -1 to bedrock level

If you are a chicken liver like me and pants at fighting mobs, get yosef a fortune 3 unbreaking 3 pickaxe with mending or just a few pickaxes, a few trapdoors, food, and swift sneak 3 pants. go down to bedrock -59 i think.

Use the trapdoor to crawl and then staying as far back as possible to mine the fastest start schmovin. i got 81 blocks of diamond in about 4-1/2 hours (it took that long because i stopped to get all the redstone and lapis then stuff all cobbled deepslate in shulkers) you dont need to stand up ever, just use blocks to build up in places you dig 2 high or more vertically. you will never or just about never run into a cave because the chance that they go down to bedrock is really slim.

You dont need to even bring torches to lighr your way as long as you go into accessibility and turn your dark effect all the way down and turn brightness under video settings all the way up.

You wont blow past diamonds they are pretty shiny. also turn your enchantment glint all the way off it gets distracting and annoying.

if you hit lava, block it off and turn right, if you hit gravel, turn right, if you hit tuff, mine around it. if you are near the deep dark cave, get away from the deep dark cave.

Pro tip#1 swift sneak 3 lets you crawl fast, and you can "run" while crawling.

Pro tip#2 with a maxed netherite pickaxe and staying as far away from the next block will make you instamine.

Pro tip#3 if you have the ability, take an ender chesy with you (providing you already have one somewhere else placed down) you can shulker all your gear and items into it, then die and you will spawn where you last put down a bed (or if you dont have a bed likely 0-0 or closeby)

Pro tip#4 dont do tip #3 if in hardcore mode.

Idk who needs to hear this, but lava has never meant "diamonds nearby" ever. Not one single update has included "increased diamond spawnrate near lava".
