If you play any kind of fast paced game where reaction times affect your performance, one of the biggest factors you likely haven’t considered but could be making being a 1337 Pr0 more difficult than necessary is input lag. It’s a term you might have heard when watching monitor reviews in particular, but it’s not exclusive to monitors and there are actually two different measurements you should know about - so let me explain.

CRTs were prominent in the fighting game community’s tournaments. It wasn’t til around 2010 when monitors with acceptable response time did it start to shift. It was also more trustworthy to lug a crt around because it would most likely have no response time issues. I think monitors had to be below 5 ms for it then to be allowed for tourney play. That’s why that year’s model of ASUS was often referred to as the EVO monitor.

Input lag has moved on. There's a new type that no one can seem to fix and it has nothing to do with monitors, graphics cards, or software.

I really needed to look for this information because in a new game i'm playing called MultiVersus there's an incredible high ammount of input lag/input latency.
In that game you need to be fast and react fast to everything, so it's really difficult to do a combo when the latency is all wonky, when sometimes it responds in the correct time and sometimes it doesn't.
On top of that the game is also pretty damn laggy, people keep disappearing and appearing again inna different spot, It's crazy.
The game is on Beta of course and It's a lot of fun but at the same time these problems really make the experience very shitty

It sucks, because most people think your crazy when you scream because you cant stand the lag and freezing screen in multiplier pvp gameplay.

I had to stop just so peopke dont get upset when they deal with someonw on theie team standing around.

But in reality theyre not there experiebcing the lag, and frozen screen.

I play on a 2009 imac desktop on geforce now and its bad when the ram gets full

Thanks for the review! I'm looking for a very low lag monitor for my mister fpga setup. Which monitor would you recommend for 60hz gaming with the lowest lag?

Not sure if its the same thing, but say I open a game like Dying Light, (which I can run perfectly fine with no lag) and I press A to move Kyle left, it sometimes takes more than 2 seconds for him to actually move. Sometimes it also makes him move for a lot longer in that direction than I wanted him to. How do I fix this?

You say that non-native resolutions can/will affect input lag. Have you tested this with DLDSR? I love DLDSR visuals, but idk if I should play competitive games with it turned on. :S

What was the total system latency time with high graphics and no bots? Surely u tested that and not just high with bots.

Hey whats up, i like your videos and i have a quick question for you.
Is it better to plug mouse directly into monitor "Odyssey G7 Gaming" or use Computer USB port.
Which one will have less input lag, monitor or usb on pc, i dont talk about "response time" on monitor.

I have around 100 fps and 144hz, everyrhing that can cause input lag is turned off, but according to my measurments, using slow mo camera, precise stopwatch, and my editing skills, it turn out i have around 37 ms input lag. Is that normal? Nobody's reading that anyways...

You forgot to mention that input lag can be mitigated by cocaine induced sweat movement.
