Symmetric equations are a popular way of expressing a line in 3D space. Symmetric equations do not have a parameter, t, unlike a set of parametric equations which can also represent a line in space.

Thanks for posting this, it was very helpful.  This is about the 4th video I've watched on symmetric equations, and you've helped me get the idea of what's going on.

hey great video!! I have a question. What happens in the symmetric equations if a, b or c are 0?

what if you get parametric equations in this form:
x - 3 = t
y = 1
z = 1

where y and z equations don't have the parameter t. how would the symmetric equations look because we can't equate the three equations since only has t.

What should I do if there is a zero in the denominator of a fraction?

The headshot and handwaving is distracting.
