Questioning the existence of Bharat before pre-colonial times is an old game played by the Breaking India forces. They claim that India was nothing but a geographical mass and that the British morphed it into a nation state. This claim has been also made by Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan during an interview in which he said that, “ There was no concept of India before the British gave it.” There are also many “eminent” historians making such claims” for example Ramachandra Guha and Dr. Rakesh Batabyal which is very misleading! Glad to see more Indians aware of their historical rights to exist. As a South African I myself have known how bad it is to have your country’s existence be credited to foreign powers, there was no “south Africa” before Britain but it had different names and was generally in control of the same areas and there is an important distinction between the states of pre-colonial South Africa like the Zulu nation, Xhosa nation or Lesotho and the overall society which was still defined by one entity by its inhabitants like mapungubwe
