I am another who is a sugar addict and follow the mantra "1 is too many, 100 isn't enough". I went cold turkey back in March 2016 and eliminated all sweet tastes whether natural or artificial. Best thing I ever did. 28 months later I am still sugar free and with hugely improved health as a result.

The Unwins are amazing U.K ambassedors for low carb.Re.your question is craving different from addiction:- I believe they are different and cravings can arise as a response to a deficiency of some description.Prior to my low / no carb switch I had a strong and persistant craving for green beans of all things( not your standard binge food !), It was so strong I looked into green beans and discovered they contain an enzyme that helps regulates blood sugar! My fasting blood glucose came back in the pre diabetic range.I found this totally fascinating.I love the low carb community because its a non stop stream of knowledge, data and observation which gives the power and confidence to people who are trying to really heal themselves and where the community actively enable each other in many ways.

I actually think being low carb creates many of these situations for me - like missing out on events or spending time seeking out food - simply because carbs are so ubiquitous and non carb options can be really difficult for me to obtain. I live in Asia and there are restaurants where there is literally nothing I can eat from the menu. I sometimes have issues with this at work when everyone goes for lunch together and I order a tea. I then leave early so I can have my lunch.

Unless you've been abstaining from sugar/carbs than in all likelihood, yes. That's the simple answer I've gleaned from experience.

I have been completely sugar free for two months now because of gestational diabetes. Even tomatoes can taste quite sweet to me. I love 90% Lindt chocolate as a treat, but had a square of 86% Ghrardelli today and it was repulsively sweet for me now. So weird. I can taste that it is bitter, but the sugar doesn’t help. It was a lot like a floral spray in a bathroom - you can still smell the previous occupant, but chemical flowers at the same time.
