An awesome ship, and 80 years old too! As an Englishman I'm sad that no British battleship was preserved as a museum ship - the best we've got is HMS Belfast, preserved in the River Thames in London. Britain's last battleship, HMS Vanguard, was scrapped just 14 years after first being commissioned. My late father was in the ship's company during Vanguard's first commission. I think that some time in the 1950's "Big J" and Vanguard were both involved in the same NATO naval exercise in the North Atlantic and comparisons could be made between the two.
