Whether it’s being pushed back into your seat, or flung out of it; roller coasters have been specifically designed to provide riders with a select combination of feelings. In short, roller coasters are all about forces. In this video, we’ll get to understand the types of g-forces experienced on roller coasters, as well as the sensations each type causes guests to feel during their thrilling ride.

Great video!
But I think what you describe as positive and negative forces, actually are vertical forces. All three types (lateral, vertical and linear) can have positive and negative forces:
Positive linear: launches / Negative linear: Brakes
Positive vertical: valleies / Negative vertical: Airtime
Positive / Negative lateral: to the right / left
Well I'm not a physics student, but that makes sense for me and that's what I've heared so far :D
