Please note: In the Viewable Rows of Excel graph, the Dell XPS should read 42 rows instead of 49. The graph is correct. The label is not.

Only reviewer who actually understands the need of every man work

I feel we can always rely on you for a genuine, critical analysis of a laptop. Unlike other reviewers who get caught up in the hype or excitement of a single standout feature or new iteration, you assess each laptop for what it is and for what it will mean to a variety of individuals with specific needs and requirements. If you’re positive about a laptop, I would say it’s more of a testimonial to it than almost anyone else. Thanks for your continued work!

Finally. Have been waiting your review over this laptop. By the way, I really like the idea, and the laptop itself. Only if it offers AMD CPU options. A 5800u in this laptop would be golden.

Spot on, compromises and all. So far I love mine and totally worth the cost of entry to me. Certainly it's not for everyone, but neither is a Mac

5:36 That's Fedora Linux, an impeccable linux distro. Thanks Josh for choosing Fedora over others.

Definitely getting one of these when it releases in sweden. The majority of my concerns like the screen being wobbly and so on seems to have been fixed, only thing left is a ryzen alternative and perhaps a bit bigger battery.

I'm glad you got a Framework to review! I have a 4 year old Asus Vivobook I bought for similar reasons. It's really easy to open (phillips screws, no prying) and it can be upgraded and serviced. My Asus is all plastic with a dim display, meh trackpad and speakers. The Framework addresses all those things and is even more upgrade ready. Great job Framework.

Glad that you're covering the framework laptop! I hope it comes to Europe soon.

Thanks Josh! I really, really hope they make a ~16 inch version with dual fans. And they should really invest in better anti-reflective screen coatings and better audio, especially the former! Just because I want a repairable/upgradeable laptop and support their mission doesn't mean I'm willing to sacrifice on the things that affect me greatly during daily use

Finally! We've been waiting a while for the best laptop reviewer to look into the Framework Laptop.

It's weird for me when tech reviewers say "if you want high quality audio, go for the MacBook", men, anyone listening to music from a laptop is not concerned about high quality audio, on smartphones is even more ridiculous.

Thanks for talking about framework. Right to repair is such an important thing… each try must be encouraged!

The biggest problem is availability, Framework is still not shipping to anyway outside of US and Canada.

I really wanted your review on Framework as you truly capture the majority of laptop users needs and explain how the device performs for those common everyday tasks. I love my Framework laptop even though I am a sysadmin and will probably need to run multiple VMs or containers in future, I honestly think it's good enough for me right now where I just ssh into cloud servers and VPN from my home for work. The best part is that I can give this laptop to my parents after 3-4 years or even better, have the motherboard running as a home-server to do some hosting which would be wayyy more powerful than any Pi or edge device. That's the beauty of upgradability and repairability. I can give this laptop to anyone in my family and they would not even notice that this isn't some top of the line manufacturer's laptop and when they eventually ask me to repair their laptop for them, I would appreciate the repairability of the laptop XD

My Dell recently died, and I got a Framework to replace it. While it's not good for gaming (at native resolution, jeez that's a lot of pixels) it handles emulation like nobody's business.
I'm not even running it with properly specced RAM—i salvaged the DDR4-2400 from my Dell instead of springing for their recommended DDR4-3200. If I need that speed in the future, the thing takes less than 10 seconds to open with my electric screwdriver.
Also, the 3:2 screen is the same aspect ratio as a GBA, and with 9x integer scale you get a fantastic picture with only small borders (the screen is 9.3x GBA resolution). If you're not bothered by scaling, though, you can crank it all the way up to max size without wasting a single pixel.
