This video helped me tremendously.
I unhooked the negative battery terminal.
Loosened belt tensioner. Put in 4mm Allen wrench for pin. Removed belt from alternator.
Removed lower radiator hose after draining radiator. This gave me lots more room.
Removed clips and brackets on wires and lines in the way.
Two bolts out of pwr steering pump and bungied it up out of the way.
Three bolts and a nut removed from alternator. Removed wires from alternator.
The alternator then came out the side wheel well easily. I was surprised because it didn’t look like it would fit.
Reverse steps to replace.
The bolts were tight and most difficult to remove with so little clearance. I used multiple sockets and wrenches. 10, 12 and 14 mm.
Thanks for the video!

You just saved me $1, 600. That's what the dealership here in DC wanted for a replacement alternator and install. Your video helped me do it myself. One suggestions, the two bolts for the power steering pump are at the 12 and 3 o'clock positions looking towards the truck from the front. I was trying to get the same bracket bolt out you did because I thought you meant the small bracket closer to the wheel well.... Once I figured that out after watching your video for the 20th time...it was pretty easy. Thanks again.

I had to replace my Alternator in my '12 Tundra 5.7L recently. I wanted to say 'Thank You' for the VERY instructional video. You saved me hours of trying to figure out what to remove and what not to... GREAT JOB!!! Very sorry to hear that you had to do it twice...

This is pretty helpful, but I found it easier to drop the sway bar, that allowed me to use my hand (not fingers) on the breaker bar and ratchet.  Also he forgot to mention that there is another bolt (10mm) on the  bracket that holds the power cable to the alternator.  I also found very easy to drop it down thru the bottom.  Since I'm an older guy, I took the easier way.

Very helpful. My alternator just went out on my Tundra. Same situation. I was about to do all of that front end, radiator, etc. Thank you for saving me. I love you guy’s energy and connection BTW.

Thank you so much for this video. Had to change mine out today and I probably wouldn't have even attempted it without this to help. The only advice I have to give anyone else who has to change their alternator on their Tundra is to really consider just sticking a For Sale on the truck because it was a pain in the ass. Thanks again!

Thanks the video. I just finished replacing my 2013 Tundra alternator based off advice from your video and successfully did it.

Man man I almost made that mistake of getting the 100amp alternator but instead I got the 150 and thank god I did. I’m about to install it on my 2012 Toyota Tundra limited edition. I would of had to do all that extra work you both did. I called Toyota and asked which alternator it was and they said in their computer that it was the 150 so that’s the one that I ended up buying from O’Reilly auto parts. For all you that are not sure just call Toyota and ask them what’s the one it comes with stock and go from there that way you guys get the correct one and avoid all that extra work from the beginning 👍🏽👍🏽... thank you for posting the video on here and those two cars look cool as heel specially the racing one..

Thanks. Just saved me a bunch of time. At least I ordered the 150a Denso. Getting it out and in will be the challenge.

Thank you for posting this video. Did this job on my Wife's 2010 2WD 4.6L Tundra today. One thing I did differently was draining the radiator and moving the lower hose out of the way to get access to the power steering pump bolts.

I want to thank you so much for this video!! If I wouldn't have seen this, I would have been in the same boat with O'Reilly's. Asked the same question about rear DVD!
One suggestion on the removal; I did take sway bar ( very easy) down and also the radiator hose. Made it so much easier. Other than that, this was awesome.

i dont have a tundra but i watched the video because i want to support your channel. i want to see you succeed because your story is inspiring. your story reminds me of bill caswell. i want to race too. i dont necessarily want to be the best. just want to race. i also live in vegas i know there is a race club that meets at the silverton. im hoping to join it once i get my project car running that ive had sitting for over a year. a combination of lack of time, money, space, energy and all kinds of other excuses keeps my car from running. but anyway keep up the good work.

Your video on the Toyota alternator change was GREAT In formation. Swamped out for a 150amp the power steering was a bitch..but got it done in 5 hours with spacers included! Thank you!

The alternator did wiggle out from the side after removing the power steering pump.  My 2008 Sequoia PCM had to relearn.   I changed the alternator in cold weather and it did not work correctly until the engine warmed up and I let the car run for about 30 minutes.  Finally the new alternator started to work properly.   Before that the care kept idling at about 200 rpm and would turn off.

great vid... I'm an Ag mechanic and went to NAPA... they told me the same thing "GOT A REAR DVD"... WTF!!!, thanks for the info. Glad I saw this before I started, the NAPA alt. is going back and I'm taking it to Toyota, it would cost me more in shop time than what I would have to pay the dealership
