Just a small fact, the uprising was against the limitations of the people's freedom, especially freedom of expression. There were a lot of political prisoners, especially all of the islamist politicians. The limitations were on women's rights to weear hijab as well, as it was forbidden in many areas and only allowed to be worn in a certain, not very covery way. So counter-intuitively, the women gained the freedom to cover-up if they wanted, not the other way round :)

Hello and welcome to Tunisia.
On the freedom and liberal side of things here in Tunisia we were always less conservative and more freedom oriented than other traditional Arab countries way before the revolution due to our education since the independence and the rise of the modern state away from monarchy and French occupation.
You can find more conservative communities scattered across the country but the general vide here is you can do whatever you want as long as you don't hurt or disturb others.

This is Sidi Bou Said. I had thought this was a video of Tunis. Great vlog and talk.

The revolution wasn't about women's freedom or liberal practices because we have been a liberal country since independence. The main reason was economic problems. In fact, there were restrictions on women's clothing—it was forbidden to cover your hair—so the reality is the complete opposite of what you think.

Hi, Arabic(Tunisian dialect) is spoken in 99% of the places only in Marsa and the surrounding . You were in the area where people think that speaking french makes you have a better future but i am very happy that you liked our country.

as you've noticed Tunisia seems to be less conservative and more liberal than other islamic countries, it's not a general fact though, you can find many religious people especially outside the capital...
anyway, hope u enjoyed ur time here, i recommend you visiting some coastal cities like mahdia, it's less touristic so more calm, and has a very unique atmosphere and scenery

Please visit Djerba island south of Tunisia, there is a Jewish synagogue that was built in 586 BCE, among other cool stuff in Djerba

bro is unlucky. Visited Sidi Bou Said on one of the very few foggy days of the year. Couldn't see how beautiful the view is. And no it wasn't the arab springs that made tunisia progressive. It always was a little more progressive than the others. It even got abortion rights before France.

I.went to tunisia from morroco 8 months after the uprising in tunisia and it was at times very difficult. I stayed at a hotel inside the medina. I arrived from the airport by taxi and it stopped at the square that leads into the medina. I remember soldiers walking over and questioning me and when I explained a few things they were like best friends for the remainder of my trip.one soldier in charge was a lovely guy and walked me to my hotel at 1130 at night. He explained to the hotel to look after me otherwise there would be trouble 😂😂. It's a fascinating place but I recommend travelling with friends as it's alittle to edgy. Great video

Ive been to Jasmine Hammamet 3 times before COVID. I was tempted to go but Its quite cold in in March. The fried doughnuts are very popular and they do good leather stuff..ive been rhere as a single woman and always enjoyed it. They still have arena..youre corect, depending on day of worship, starts on Friday evening where it gets busy. Try Buha, its the home made alcohol and fo to the souk. The vegetables are organic, huge and fresh. The women family have expectation that the mnn must provide for the woman, oftne must have a house, she will provide the items inside the home and divorce rate is low. There is no 50/50 inntheir culture. The man is the provider.

Go to Subsaharan Africa! You still have so many countries to see. Particularly in Ethiopia, you missed out on so many places. Been watching you on and off for a long time brother, stay safe out there!
