When it comes to "weird" fashion, I think it's universal around the world: the rural areas tend to be more judgemental, and the urban areas tend to be more accepting. I don't even think it's a matter of being conservative or liberal. I think it's just a matter of exposure and "getting used to it". I forgot who said it, but there's this quote that goes "cities are where ideas have sex". So it makes sense that there's a higher saturation of out-there fashion and creative ideas in the city.

I was in Tokyo in June and was looking for a sushi restaurant called Genki Sushi in Shinjuku area, for the life of me couldn't find it, finally got up the courage to ask a couple uniformed high school girls, they took 10 minutes out of there time walking me to the front door of the restaurant. that didn't suck!

I like how everyone is so worried about the Olympics. Makes sense. If you're going to invite people to your home, you're going to make sure it's presentable and welcoming to your guests. You don't want to give a bad impression. I amused that people in Japan are worried/concerned about that. It's understandable. Everyone wants to put their best foot forward.

I get told off in the gym in Tokyo for not exercising in the way they would like me to, I'm just doing walking lunges with weights, no harm. I don't like these rules that are based around " because that's the way things are done".

I think Japan is incredibly unprepared for the Olympics from a social perspective. If they think rowdy sports fans are going to follow their dead silent train etiquette, etc., they are delusional.

As far as helping out foreign visitors, there should be a movement to put EVERYTHING that foreigners will need in romaji. Basically in some radius around the games, all signs should add romaji.

It was nice to hear a Japanese person not looking at these aspects of the Olympics with rose colored glasses. An earlier video on this channel had a bunch of people talking about how foreigners should study Japanese manners before coming, and how maybe Japanese people can learn more English or vice versa. Maybe it was tatemae, because that shit isn't happening. Japanese people need to prepare themselves to be inconvenienced. The reality is that a horde of foreigners who neither know nor care about Japanese customs are going to descend on Tokyo. Ignoring them will not be a possibility.

Well, In Colombia some people are gonna look at you but nobody will bother you but If you are wearing a DOLL AS A NECKLACE you can be sure someone is gonna ask what is wrong with you.

I lived in Japan for 5 yrs, here is what I found frustrating
Any once of individualism is frowned upon & you are ostracized.
Tattoo's - couldn't go to the beach, hot springs, swimming pool & gym
No concept of personal space; everything is crowded as fuck.

I think in Los Angeles people don't really care. You can pretty much do whatever you want or say whatever you want or wear whatever you want. It's even more liberal in places like Hollywood and West Hollywood. I'm not sure about Little Tokyo but from my experiences there people are open to cosplayers and other things so we're pretty lucky here. We also have several different Anime conventions that happen in the area including Anime Expo which draws nearly a hundred thousand people from all over the world each year to the LA Convention Center.

I live in the UK. I dress very alternatively and have coloured hair/piercings, etc. For me, it depends on where I am- my hometown is a large town in the countryside so I get alot of weird looks, stares, and sometimes the odd giggle or passive aggressive comment. But if I go to London people will either not even give me a second look or will compliment my style and ask for pictures!
I think its mostly the same wherever you go- smaller rural places seem to be more traditional and old fashioned, whereas big cities/capitals are more accepting and diverse. I hope to move to Japan soon so maybe I need to tone it down if I don’t want to stick out like a sore thumb!

During watching the video, I can't understand the toy hung over the neck of the girl standing on the left. Is there anyone who know what kind of function that dole necklace has?
