The tarp is still working great. I made one for myself as well and if I were you, I'd go with deeper cat cuts on the tarp than HG uses, as I find that the deeper cuts make for more of a taught pitch and looks cooler.

It took me around 6 months to save for it. It was worth it. There is no rush.

Yes. 10' is long enough for my hammock (90" ridgeline). If I were going with a a hex cut, I might consider 10.5' just to get the side cat cuts wide enough to keep me dry.

I purposefully make my skins with a small diameter so everything stays compact. I can not just pull the skins over the tarp though. I have to roll the tarp up and then slide the skins on.

I bought the ridgeline set up from Whoopieslings[dott]com for around $35 and the custom tarp, since it is smaller than the main tarp HG sells, was less pricey than the one on HG's website. The whole set up is nice. I'm looking forward to my final mod, as soon as some cuben scraps com in for the door tie backs.
