It's the entrance to the rational mind
Since a city signifies doctrine
And the entrance to the Church within, goes through the rational mind

Caine built the first city.
Each stone is a building block of thought, traditions and memories.
A defensive wall is built to protect the thought from others who might wish to attack the belief system made to be seen.
A king or lord uses the thought energy of others to maintain the structure and what it stands for.
God broke down the thought structure of Jerichoe and killed the thought within it.
