Bill Gates is famous for having pretty much reinventing the world as we know it. Without him, there would be no internet and the world would be fundamentally different in every single way. So when it comes to how he dreams, of course he has loftier ambitions than anyone like you or I could ever dream about. He is looking to reinvent the very concept of the city as we know it. Hold on because Gates may do away with everything annoying about living in a city. Wouldn’t that be a futuristic dream?

While these cities are being built all over the world, Gates is planning to build a giant city outside of Phoenix, Arizona. I would be a smart city that would optimize every single thing about urban life, potentially getting rid of outdated institutions like DMVs. It might also get rid of traffic by deleting human drivers altogether. He truly wants to build a city of the future that could become a true beacon for the rest of the world to follow.

As much as people are excited for these smart city projects, there are just as many people who think that these cities are a horrible idea. In particular, this city’s location is being criticized as a huge problem on the local environment and the citizens around the proposed site. There’s a scarcity of resources to consider and this city would definitely not make that better.

I'd say hemcrete as a building material and an industry serving the whole country would be a good fit, unless he goes for tech and chooses AI and humanoid robotics for the cities main industry.

Start with a grocery store and mixed use housing and expand from there.
