Database Backup and its Types (Full, Differential, Incremental)

Показать описание
In this database backup and recovery video I'll provide you with some information regarding a database backup and its types. You will know what a full, differential, and incremental sql database backup is, as well as what hot, warm, and cold database backup in dbms types are.
1) A full database backup backs up all databases and all tables within them. Full database backups take the most time to complete.
2) An incremental database backup only backs up the changes since the last database backup. As a result, such database backups are smaller and faster.
3) A differential database backup only backs up changes to data since the last full database backup.
Both differential and incremental database backups require at least one full database backup to be restored.
There is also such a concept as hot database backups, warm database backups, and cold database backups.
A hot database backup is a database backup performed when a database is still running and being actively used.
A warm backup is a database backup performed on a running database that is not performing any work.
A cold backup is a sql backup performed on a database that is offline.
